The Canon EOS Rebel T5i is a pretty awesome DSLR. It is not too expensive but a very capable device. It is not designed to be exposed to water though. If you plan to take your DSLR camera anywhere close to water, you should give waterproof T5i accessories a look:

These are not cheap but keep your camera protected from water damage. Nice to have for underwater photography.
